Once, there was a great legendary country lost in the flow of history.

Ys.

Led by twin goddesses and six priests, it was a utopia at the height of prosperity.

There, through the power of the goddesses' treasure, the "black pearl", the people were brought great blessings.

"Magic" made possible many wonders, and the metal "cleria" amplified that magical power...

Because of both, Ys had great prosperity, and it was thought its glorious days would continue forever.

But one day, it was visited by calamity.

Monsters, in numbers never before seen, appeared and attacked Ys.

In an instant, the monsters overran the surface, and finally the people were cornered in Salmon Temple, where the goddesses dwelled.

It was thought that it was the end of everything, but with the power of the "black pearl", the goddesses and the six priests were successful in raising the temple.

But on the surface a great "tower" was built and winged monsters came flying into the sky and once again Ys was in danger of destruction.

In the midst of it all, a matter occurred which shook Salmon Temple, which was far removed from the surface.

Of all things, the twin goddesses, the symbols of Ys, disappeared.

The people were in despair, and the six priests reached a decision.

In order to find the missing goddesses, they picked the elite from the knights and sorcerers,

And sent them to the surface which was bound in darkness.
